Kevin Durant appears to fan Knicks rivalry in Instagram message

Kevin Durant is apparently all for reigniting the New York rivalry between the Nets and Knicks.

NBA Twitter erupted on Friday when a screen-grab of an alleged exchange between a Knicks fan and Durant went viral.

After the fan mentioned that a Nets-Knicks playoff matchup would “ignite New York,” Durant allegedly replied, “I would absolutely love for that s–t to happen.”

Durant, whose Instagram handle is “@easymoneysniper,” has not verified if he actually participated in the exchange, though it was a topic of discussion on Friday’s episode of “The Jump” on ESPN. However, it’s no secret that the Nets star is actively outspoken on social media.

Durant chose the Nets over the Knicks two offseasons ago in free agency and has previously called the MSG franchise “not cool.”

Knicks star Julius Randle was asked on the Woj Pod what he would think of playing the Nets in the postseason.

“That would be a lot of fun. I can’t even imagine,” Randle said. “I can’t imagine how crazy the city would go. It would be unreal. That’s a helluva team over there but it would be unreal.”

Durant will miss his third straight game on Friday night with a left thigh contusion he suffered against Miami on Sunday.

Earlier this season, Durant was sidelined for 23 straight games with a hamstring strain.
