Observations from the Mets’ 8-3 spring training victory over the Astros on Saturday.

Reason to smile

Francisco Lindor’s spring rampage (and contract extension push?) continued with a 3-for-3 performance Saturday in the Mets’ exhibition win. Lindor reached base four times and drove in three runs. He owns a 1.098 OPS this spring.

Spring slog

Jeff McNeil went hitless in three at-bats and is batting .116 this spring. McNeil, batting mostly in the sixth spot, has posted a .525 OPS.

Caught my eye

Pete Alonso took extra fielding drills with infield coach Gary DiSarcina before the game. Alonso’s scoops at first base and improved throwing have allowed him to have a solid camp defensively.

Sunday’s schedule

Mike Montgomery is the Mets’ scheduled starting pitcher for their game in Jupiter, Fla., against the Marlins.
