Mets pitcher Jerad Eickhoff had the Astros right where he wanted them in the sixth inning Monday when he loaded the bases with nobody out and Jose Altuve stepped to the plate.
Altuve hit a line drive to second base that Jose Peraza snared and threw to second with the runner off the base. Wilfredo Tovar’s throw to first base completed the triple play.
“A triple play is always needed when you have a bases-loaded-and-no-outs situation,” Rojas said after the 5-4 loss. “It contained some damage. I am glad the guys were on their toes.”
