COVID-19 has knocked out another NFL starter.
Bills cornerback Josh Norman has tested positive for the coronavirus, the team announced Saturday. He was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, as were tight end Tyler Kroft, cornerback Levi Wallace and safety Dean Marlowe as they were found to have been in close contact with Norman. All will miss Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
Defensive assistant coach Leonard Johnson will also not travel to Arizona for the game, though the rest of the team was still scheduled to fly out on Saturday afternoon, the team said in a statement.
Norman was getting ready to return to the field Sunday after missing the last three games with a hamstring injury, but instead the Bills will have to keep pace atop the AFC East without him.
The Bills had a COVID-19 disruption earlier this season, when tight end Dawson Knox tested positive and three other tight ends were forced to miss their win over the Jets. Kroft was spared from that outbreak, as he was in the hospital for the birth of his child instead of being in the meeting where his position was exposed to the virus.
To make up for their latest COVID-19 case, the Bills elevated five players off the practice squad, including former Jets linebacker Darron Lee.
