They say it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all, which seems to be the case for Ray J and Princess Love.

Love, 36, first filed for divorce from Ray in May but requested it be dismissed in July because they had decided to give their marriage another shot. However, on Monday, Ray, 39, filed for divorce from Love.

“They tried. They love each other, they love their kids, but they just don’t want to be married to each other,” an insider close to the former couple exclusively tells Page Six. “They’re hoping that it’ll be super friendly.”

He’s asking for joint custody of their kids, 2-year-old daughter Melody Love and 9-month-old son Epik Ray.

Ray and Princess have a prenup, which was a saga documented on her VH1 series “Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood.”

“I have no guarantees that Ray is not going to step out on me,” Princess said on a 2016 episode, “but if he does, you better believe I’m taking half of everything.”

Fortunately, their split shouldn’t be a nasty one.

“He wants it to be amicable,” the insider shared. “Both just want to be good parents and move on. They’re relieved.”

Reps for the couple didn’t get back to us.

That said, the on-again, off-again couple has endured their fair share of high-profile spats, which included Princess claiming Ray once left her stranded in Las Vegas.

Ray and Princess married in 2016.
