A video featurette released Monday for the upcoming 25th James Bond film, “No Time To Die,” gives viewers insight into this brand new villain, played by Oscar-winner Rami Malek, 39.
“What he wants and what he’s willing to do makes him a very frightening character,” says director Cary Joji Fukunaga in a video introducing the ominous new character. “Both personally to Bond, and also on a global level.”
Indeed, the maniacal Safin says to 007: “We both eradicate people to make the world a better place.”
At one point in the dark video, we watch as Safin stands on a frozen lake, above a man who is trapped beneath the ice, and then, just for good measure, wildly shoots his gun at him.
Little is still known about the character’s origins.
Malek (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) speaks in a vaguely European accent, and occasionally dons a white mask to shield his disfigured face.
One thing that’s abundantly clear is his motivation: “Revenge.”
“No Time To Die,” starring Daniel Craig as 007, hits theaters on Nov. 20.
