President Josiah Bartlet will soon return to the small screen.

That’s because “The West Wing” reunion special is in the works at HBO Max. No date has been announced yet, but according to the Hollywood Reporter, it will air in the fall.

The acclaimed NBC political drama’s cast and its creator Aaron Sorkin and executive producer Thomas Schlamme will stage the Season 3 episode “Hartsfield’s Landing,” in order to benefit When We All Vote, a nonpartisan organization promoting voter participation.

Sorkin, 59, and Schlamme, 70, plan to film the reunion over the course of several days in October at Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, in accordance with COVID-19 production guidelines.

Original cast members who will appear include Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford and Martin Sheen.

The show originally aired on NBC from 1999 to 2006, and “Hartsfield’s Landing” first aired in February 2002. The episode follows C.J. (Janney) and Charlie (Hill) having a prank war, President Bartlet playing chess with Sam (Lowe) and Toby (Schiff), and Josh (Whitford) undergoing a primary in New Hampshire.

Sorkin, fresh off his hit Broadway adaptation of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird,” will reportedly also include some new written material.

“Tommy and I are incredibly excited to be getting ‘The West Wing’ cast back together for this staged reading and to support When We All Vote in their efforts to get all of us involved in this election,” Sorkin told HR.
