“It’s a dark psychological thriller. I play the desperate parent of a young missing daughter on a camp trip holiday. One thing goes into another and she mysteriously disappears, and I stop at nothing to find her. The story’s frightening. What happens is we face a harrowing revelation.

“Look, most of life is frightening today. I haven’t even been inside my grocery in five months. We’re to do publicity for this movie, but I’m not getting into any plane. You can’t even call makeup people. Fortunately, I did Broadway twice so I know how to do my own makeup. What we’re doing is talk shows via Zoom. They’re setting up spots in an office.

“What a difference life brings. I remember getting my Emmy. I was shy then. I don’t know why, but I didn’t understand the honor at that age. I was so embarrassed getting it that I didn’t even keep it. It went to my old agent where it still is. She lives down the street. Now I’d like to go over to her house and get it back.

“When I was a kid, age 12, my family moved 11 times. We were poor. No money. Homeless. A yellow strip of tape across our door. My brother called a friend and so we next lived with another nice Christian family in an Amish community, and my father then ended up in Atlantic City, NJ. We’ve all come a long way.

“This movie is also complicated. It has violence, language, brief sexuality and drug use. It’s two separate stories going on. We, the couple — Paul and Wendy — are two different people. You see us one way. Then another way. It’s like seeing through a glass mirror. We’re a different couple than you think. This is healing through heartbreaking grief.”

Paul is Thomas Jane. “The Vanished” is digital, on-demand and in select theaters tomorrow.

Read Ben Widdicombe’s Simon & Schuster book “Gatecrasher.” It rinses the dish that didn’t make it to the sink, the papers, TV, Hollywood, or those open Hampton mouths … Things they’ve said: Drew Barrymore about her cat. “An important part of my life. If I die before him, I want my ashes put in his food so I can finally live inside him.” … And Helen Mirren: “When I’m in England, it’s New Orleans I’m homesick for, though it doesn’t look like it’s ever been cleaned up. It’s still funky and untidy.”

RIP Robert

Tomorrow morning a small family funeral is to be held for the president’s younger brother Robert, who left us last weekend. The invitation-only service will be on the White House lawn. Due to COVID, all hygienic restrictions remain strictly enforced. Later this year when, hopefully, CV restrictions are lessened, a proper and larger memorial service — which we have all said “Robert might have wanted” — is being planned.

Flowers sick too

More White House problems. Jill Brooke, of FlowerPowerDaily.com, says roses, a $600 million industry, is suffering from a rose rosette virus. No known cure. Spread by wind, a microscopic insect-like a dust particle creates elongated reddish leaves, hyper thorniness and misshapen stems. The first lady’s newly unveiled Rose Garden is replacing its unhealthy bushes. Brooke: “The public needs to remove and socially distance each problem plant from the other.”

And mail-in voting? Listen, five months ago small country Guyana voted for a president. After five whole long months, the votes have been tallied and their president was just confirmed. And, like, that’s a real tiny country. I know a guy in Brooklyn who has more people in his bed at home.

Yeah. But not voters — termites.

Only in America, kids, only in America.
