Bethenny Frankel wanted to expand her family through adoption.

The former “Real Housewives of New York” star, 49, revealed in the comments section of an Instagram post that she looked into the adoption process to open her home to a 3-year-old boy, but it was a difficult undertaking.

“The thing that surprises people is that once they get into the system, it is hard to get them out,” the Skinnygirl mogul commented on Sunday. “Growing up, we always heard that everyone wants a baby and not an older kid. I tried a while back to adopt a 3-year-old and it was a harder process than a newborn. If it’s like other family law systems, it’s not as easy as the movies make it.”

Frankel, who shares a 10-year-old daughter Bryn with her ex-husband Jason Hoppy, added that she would adopt Jordan, a 9-year-old boy from Oklahoma who spoke out about his time in foster care.

“I will adopt him,” Frankel commented. “Bryn said ‘momma you should adopt him.’”

Frankel previously expressed an interest in adoption back in 2016, telling People that she was “definitely serious” about adopting an abandoned 5-year-old girl who led police to her dead mother.

“Lawyer says once w the state a private adoption impossible which is now upsetting me more. That is bulls–t,” she said on Twitter at the time.

She later added, “There’s a misconception that everyone wants an infant. Bc of this rule, babies r the only option. Once in system kids r lost. Sad.”
