The key to better sex for couples might just be an open mind — to porn.
Maitland Ward of “Boy Meets World” fame, who has since shifted to a successful career in adult films, said she’s been spending her time during the COVID-19 lockdown helping to entertain fans, all while shedding the stigma of porn in the process.
In fact, she’s even guided a sex-troubled couple through her own X-rated content.
“I have one wonderful fan who says his wife was not comfortable exploring new things in bed,” Ward, 43, told The Post. “She wasn’t confident in her sexuality and didn’t know what to do, but she likes watching me.”
Ward’s familiar face can sometimes be a real asset for amateur porn watchers.
“[The fan] felt comfortable because I’m a face she knew from a loved show,” as Rachel McGuire on the Disney series. The woman was able to enjoy watching adult content with her partner and come out of her shell,” Ward said.
“She started becoming more confident and emboldened to try things she watched me doing,” she said. “Today, they’re having the most amazing sex. I just love stories like that.”
Plus, she continued, “people say porn ruins relationships. Quite the contrary. When used properly, it can make your sexual life with your partner better than ever. It’s not porn — it’s a stale bed that ruins marriages.”
Ward, who has starred in several films for high-end adult-film giant Deeper, is adamant that porn can be a crucial way to connect, especially during a time when people need it most. Through her social-media platforms and OnlyFans, on which she said has “seen exponential growth” recently, she said plenty of fans send her “sweet messages” thanking her for providing that outlet for escapism.
“I just love it when they tell me that I’ve helped get them through this hard time,” she said. “A lot of people tell me that my content is a happy place for them.”
Along with her personal content, Ward says that her scenes in Deeper films have been getting record views and engagement from the fans across the board.
“There’s a real need, not only for sexual gratification but also for real, human connection during this time,” she said.
While most of the world is still at a standstill, Ward said she’s been busier than ever to meet that demand, filming virtual scenes for Deeper and Vixen Media Group as well as cam shows and getting “creative.” Some of her latest videos have been light and humorous, such as her Corona shower dance parties, where she instructs how to wash properly while dancing to songs such as “My Corona (My Sharona)” and “Don’t Stand So Close to Me.” She’s also filmed segments baking brownies in the buff and telling erotic bedtime stories.
“I also have a full torso sex toy,” she added. “He’s known to my live-show viewers as Quarantine Man. He has no head, so he can’t talk back. A full muscular torso, he’s always ready and at full attention.”
Whether fun and sexy or straight-up X-rated, she believes her content is helping to normalize an often-maligned pastime.
“Porn is finally being recognized mainstream as a normal and healthy part of our lives, especially now that we can’t get that kind of connection and sexual release elsewhere,” she said. “Porn is the safest element that meets these vital human needs.”
She applauded states that put out guides for sex during the pandemic, such as New York, which unabashedly declared that “you are your safest sex partner.”
“I thought that was fantastic! It was actually an honest, sex-positive, straight-forward directive on how we need to meet our needs going forward,” she said. “No judgments or shame, just practical information. People want to act like porn isn’t normal, or that it’s an evil force, but the reality is the majority of people watch porn. It’s part of everyone’s lives already, whether they keep it in the dark or not.”
Ward said that while “society tries to impose this stigma on sex,” she has gotten nothing but love from Disney fans and those who watched “Boy Meets World.”
“I have a lot of ‘Boy Meets World’ fans who have followed me all the way through my metamorphosis,” she said, calling them “a loving and supportive force.”
“But I also get this a lot — people who follow me because of my new adult career or my cosplay stuff, who just suddenly realize I’m Rachel from ‘Boy Meets World,’ ” she added. “Their minds are always blown by it — in a happy way, of course.”
Early on, she said she thought there was be a “negative backlash” over her shift to porn, “being that ‘Boy Meets World’ is such a clean, young Disney show,” but she said it’s actually been “quite the opposite.”
“The audience has grown up,” she said. “I think also because I genuinely love what I am doing and I’m not trying to just seek attention from some badly shot sex tape or something. I’m not ashamed I do porn. I’m so, so proud. It’s really a dream.”
Ward, who won three Adult Video News (AVN) awards for her feature-length porn “Drive,” said that working with Deeper, she’s had opportunities to spread her wings as an actress in roles, too, including “sensual, devious, dramatic, ultratwisted characters.”
“It’s hard for people to believe, but porn … has given me opportunities as an actress I wouldn’t have had in mainstream,” she said. “They’ve seen past the typecast of ‘girl next door’ and have allowed me to become these dramatic, delicious, sexually unapologetic characters, and I get to incorporate all of my dark and taboo sexual fantasies into my roles.”

But she’s most glad to see how young people have been so positive about adult content.
“Porn taboo — I’m finding it’s generational,” she said. “An older crowd is still shocked and judgmental. The stigma is there. But not with young people.”
Ward said she’s gotten loads of messages, particularly from young women, who are “sex-positive” and supportive of her “sexual empowerment.” She believes it’s because the younger generation “has lived the majority of their life on the internet.”
“Young women in their 20s tell me all the time how empowered I make them feel and that I’m doing something really liberating for women,” she said. “Young women are taking their own pleasure seriously and they watch adult films too. The stigmas are going away. It’s a great feeling.”
