Scottish author Irvine Welsh is teaming with Bret Easton Ellis on a satirical drama TV series about America’s tabloid press culture.
Under the working title “American Tabloid,” the show will chronicle a weekly publication, Deadline reported, “where political correctness, morals and ethics are left firmly at the door.” The show will be produced by the UK’s Burning Wheel Productions.
Producer Shelley Hammond said this was the first time “American Psycho” author Easton Ellis and “Trainspotting” writer Welsh have collaborated, “We always knew we would require writers who don’t hold back and go way further than most would dare … with the support to allow creative freedom, we are confident spectacular things will happen.”
