Bruce Smith played in four straight Super Bowls, but nothing prepared him for the pressure of Celebrity Family Feud.

In a recent appearance on the game show, the Hall of Famer initially responded to a question — what tool Captain Hook would use to replace the hook if the character was a handyman? — with the answer “hammer.” After learning that answer had previously been given by a teammate, Smith inexplicably said “penis,” prompting host Steve Harvey to utter a four-letter word in disbelief.

“There is something about a time clock and a buzzer that, it makes you become confused when you’re running out of time and you don’t have an answer,” Smith said on “The Dan Patrick Show.”

“I gave the No. 1 answer originally and then when that buzzer went off a couple of times. I guess I kind of panicked.”

Smith blames the producers of the show for the response, which propelled him to instant viral status.

“As we were filming the show, there were multiple questions where all they talked about was sex,” Smith said. “I was already hot-wired to potentially give that answer. I just needed the time and the space.”
