For its upcoming summer issue, Harper’s Bazaar asked catwalk legend Christy Turlington Burns for a list of ladies who give her hope about what the post-coronavirus world might look like.
The gals she chose to grace the mag’s cover for its “Voices of Hope” edition include six-time Olympic gold medal–winning runner Allyson Felix, model and activist Ashley Graham, former Baltimore Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen and Democratic congresswoman Lauren Underwood, of Ohio.
There’s also a familiar face for New Yorkers — Gov. Cuomo’s right-hand woman Melissa DeRosa, who is also the head of the state’s COVID-19 Maternity Task Force, which Turlington Burns, 51, is involved in.
The task force was created by Cuomo to ensure women could give birth safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

In an early May conversation over Zoom with the other women, Turlington Burns said she’s been a maternal health advocate since she became a mom 16 years ago.
“In that period of time, I have met countless inspiring women… And I’m always hopeful because of those relationships that I’ve built over time and the new relationships that I’ve been able to establish, so I don’t have to look far to find inspiration and hope,” she said.
To stay safe amid the outbreak, the subjects were shot remotely, with photographer Mario Sorrenti using a mix of Zoom and iPhone cameras.
And there was no glam squad — a stylist only offered the ladies advice over FaceTime.
Only Turlington Burns was captured in person, at a physical distance, and outside, near her home on Long Island.
