Max Tuerk, the former NFL offensive lineman and USC standout, has died at 26, the Trojans announced Sunday.

The cause of death was not disclosed by the college, though he website 247Sports reported Tuerk had collapsed while hiking.

Tuerk was a third-round draft pick by the Chargers in 2016 but never played a regular-season game with the franchise.

He was suspended the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Tuerk eventually was waived by the Chargers and signed with the Cardinals in November 2017, appearing in one game for Arizona before being cut a year later.

The Trabuco Canyon, Calif. native appeared in 38 games for USC and played every position along the program’s offensive line.

Tuerk, who stood at 6-foot-5, 285-pounds, was a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection during his junior season.
