“The Bold and the Beautiful” is certainly being bold.

The CBS soap will be the first US broadcast series to return to production since the COVID-19 shutdown began. All cast and crew will wear masks, except for actors when they are filming.

The long-running series will start things up again on Wednesday, June 17 in Los Angeles.

According to Deadline, “The Bold and the Beautiful” had always hoped to return filming in June and had started planning for that after it was shut down in mid-March amid coronavirus concerns.

Strict new guidelines will be imposed: The cast and crew will be tested for coronavirus regularly, and everyone will work shorter days with staggered times, limiting the number of people on set. Some scripts have already been altered to accommodate the new procedures.

Producers have even hired a COVID-19 coordinator who will stay on set to ensure all safety guidelines are strictly observed. The show, which first aired in 1987 and centers around the powerful Forrester family, aired its last original episode in April.
