Tatler magazine has hit back at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s complaints over a recent cover story on the Duchess that sparked outrage from the royal couple.
“We can confirm we have received correspondence from lawyers acting for the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge and believe it has no merit,” the magazine said on Monday, according to The Daily Mail.
Last week the society bible published a cover story on the Duchess of Cambridge titled “Catherine the Great,” which quoted sources as saying Kate was feeling exhausted and closed in by an increased workload after Megxit.
Kate was also described as “perilously thin,” comparing her to William’s late mother, Princess Diana.
In an extremely unusual move, William, 37, and Kate, 38, sent letters to the magazine demanding that the profile penned by Anna Pasternak be immediately taken down from the internet, according to The Daily Mail.
After the article was published, Kensington Palace released a forceful statement: “This story contains a swathe of inaccuracies and false misrepresentations which were not put to Kensington Palace prior to publication.”
Earlier, Tatler’s editor-in-chief Richard Dennen insisted he “stands behind the reporting.”
