Steve Harwell, the lead vocalist for Smash Mouth, was slapped with a temporary restraining order by his ex-fiancée Esther Campbell.

In the filing, obtained by TMZ, Campbell alleged that Harwell, 53, was verbally and mentally abusive towards her.

Campbell claimed in the documents that the “All Star” singer suffers from substance abuse issues, bipolar disorder and that he had stopped taking medication that had been prescribed to help with his mental health.

While Harwell himself has never publicly spoken about having mental health issues, a restraining order filed by Campbell in September of last year alleged that he had problems with alcohol abuse.

In her most recent request for a restraining order, Campbell claimed that Harwell went to rehab and was doing better with his substance abuse battle until February 2020. She claimed that when he got back from treatment, he allegedly stole her phone and destroyed it.

Campbell also alleged that Harwell stole her car keys and left her car windows open in the rain and described him as “vindictive, angry, vile and mean.”

The former couple got engaged in September 2019, shortly before Campbell filed for her first protective order. They had dated for over a year before he popped the question — and he allegedly harassed her with texts and phone calls.

She was granted a temporary order at the time. It is unclear if she will receive a permanent order this time.

A rep for Harwell declined to comment.
