Judi Dench really, really hated her ‘Cats’ movie costume

Dame Judi Dench may be the picture of elegance and poise — but bring up “Cats,” and the claws might come out.

The 85-year old Oscar winner covers the latest issue of British Vogue, and during her interview, she was asked about her role as Old Deuteronomy in the critically panned Tom Hooper adaptation that’s become a cult midnight movie.

“The cloak I was made to wear!” Dench exclaimed of her bedraggled furry costume for the flick. “Like five foxes f—king on my back.”

The actress added that while she has yet to even see “Cats” in full, she wasn’t a fan of how her character — whom she’d hoped would convey a certain Dench-esque grace — turned out. “A battered, mangy old cat,” she said of Old Deuteronomy. “A great big orange bruiser. What’s that about?”

Her onscreen alter ego’s name probably didn’t help matters; Dench, who’s notably the oldest star to ever appear on the cover of British Vogue, isn’t exactly embracing the aging process.

“I don’t like it at all,” she told the mag. “I don’t think about it. I don’t want to think about it. They say age is an attitude … it’s horrible.”

“I saw Mags — Maggie Smith — the other day, and she said, ‘My god, I think they’re going to stop me driving my car,’” continued Dench, who recently stopped driving herself due to her deteriorating eyesight. “It’s the most terrible shock to your system. Ghastly. It’s terrible to be so dependent on people.”

Still, don’t expect the “Skyfall” star to retire from the big screen anytime soon. “No, no, no, no. Don’t use that word,” Dench told her interviewer. “Not in this house. Not here. Wash your mouth out!”
