Joe Giudice‘s legal troubles are finally over, but the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star didn’t get the outcome he wanted.
On Wednesday, Giudice’s appeal in his deportation case was denied, per United States Court of Appeals records obtained by Page Six.
The decision comes months after he was ordered to be deported back to Italy following his 41-month prison sentence on wire fraud and bankruptcy fraud charges. He can appeal the decision again, his James J. Leonard Jr., told us, and he is in the process of discussing his options.
“We have always maintained that Joe Giudice belongs in the United States with his family, not in Italy,” he said. “The immigration laws in our country are both draconian and antiquated and need to be revisited by forward-thinking members of Congress.”
The presiding judge ruled that he did indeed commit an aggravated felony (defined in court documents as “an offense that … involves fraud or deceit in which the loss to the victim or victims exceeds $10,000”), which provides grounds for deportation. However, Giudice argued “that because his loans were later forgiven, there was no loss,” but the court was “not persuaded.”
Giudice, 47, was also denied his appeal on two technicality arguments.
He is currently living in Italy, while his estranged wife Teresa, 47, is living in New Jersey with their four daughters, Gia, 19, Gabriella, 15, Milania, 14, and Audriana, 10.
The couple announced that they were separated in December. No divorce paperwork has been finalized yet.
