The Jets made their fans wait, but they got their wide receiver on Friday night.

Gang Green selected Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims in the second round with the 59th overall pick. Jets GM Joe Douglas traded back from No. 48 with the Seahawks, acquiring the No. 59 pick and No. 101, which is a third-rounder.

Mims was projected by some as a first-round pick, so it was a surprise to see him fall to the Jets late in the second round. He had 1,010 receiving yards, 66 catches and 12 touchdowns for the Bears last season. Mims is a speedster, running a 4.38 second 40-yard dash at the Combine. There are questions about his hands and his route-running ability coming from the Baylor offense.

Douglas found Sam Darnold a protector in the first round with tackle Mekhi Becton and now he got him a playmaker in Mims.

Jets fans were sweating it out as 12 wide receivers came off the board before the Jets picked. But everyone said this is a deep wide receiver draft and the Jets now have a replacement for Robby Anderson, who left as a free agent last month to join the Panthers.
