UFC 249, it appears, is off. And it’s not the company’s only event on hold.

All UFC events are postponed indefinitely due to coronavirus, president Dana White told ESPN.

“This whole thing has been a battle since Day 1, we’ve been fighting nonstop all day and all night since this pandemic started to put on this event on April 18,” White said. “Today we got a call from the highest level you can go at Disney and the highest level at ESPN. … The powers that be there asked me to stand down and not do this event next Saturday.”

White had struggled to find a venue for the megafight, eventually settling on on tribal land at the Tachi Palace Casino Resort outside of Fresno, Calif., though he also saw two co-headliners drop out of the fight. Khabib Nurmagomdeov was unable to leave Russia due to the country’s coronavirus travel ban, while strawweight Rose Nanajunas revealed on Thursday that she withdrew after two deaths in her family were related to COVID-19.
