While the Democratic primary race for president has taken a backseat to coronavirus concerns within the US, both Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders are still in the running for the coveted position.

For her part, actress Alyssa Milano has shared her support for Sen. Biden, and believes it is imperative for the left that Sen. Sanders call it quits, much to the chagrin of the Vermont politician’s loyal supporters.

Milano’s Bernie Bro problem began on Tuesday afternoon when the “Tempting Fate” star, 47, reposted a clip of Whoopi Goldberg on “The View.” In the clip, Goldberg publically asks Sanders why he remains in the race when every poll shows Biden as the likely nominee.

“Thank you, @WhoopiGoldberg,” Milano captioned her tweet of the clip. “This moment in time is too important to take bulls–t from our politicians.”

One fan immediately re-posted a 2015 tweet from Milano where she endorsed Bernie during the 2016 presidential race, writing “I’m old enough to remember when you stood on the side of working and poor people.”

Others brought up accusations made against Biden regarding various levels of inappropriate behavior towards women, including sexual assault.

“It must feel really dirty to be a paid personality for Joe Biden — a man who has a long history of sexual misconduct,” wrote another apparent Sanders supporter. “Eight women have come forward which tells you there are so many more out there. And don’t forget about Anita Hill. Disgraceful.”

Another critic took aim at Milano’s personal life, tweeting, “#AlyssaMilano and her hubby have serious financial troubles, bankruptcy, IRS, and lawsuits. Desperate people do desperate things. Biden is her hubby’s client, and they need the money.”

The mother of two took to Twitter Wednesday morning to address the backlash in a thread specifically dedicated to Bernie supporters.

“I will continue to do what’s right for the people in this country no matter how you attack me. I’m tough,” she asserted. “I’ve had 4 years of practice from MAGAs. I know all the tricks and you can’t silence me. I supported Bernie in 2016.”

She went on to say Bernie was “the right person for that moment in history,” but ultimately believes “Biden is going to be the steady leadership that we need. He has what it takes to heal the soul of the nation and bridge the divide.”

Milano continued, “Biden is right for this heartbreaking moment in time. That’s my opinion. My right. You’re entitled to unfollow and wish me away. But, alas, I’m not going anywhere…and I hope you don’t either.”

“I’m not your enemy,” Milano noted,  “We are all fighting for the most vulnerable among us. I acknowledge that Sen. Sanders is an amazing public servent [sic] and we would be lucky to have him continue in any for[m] of political office. I don’t believe he can unite the country because his base is toxic.”

To support her position, the “Charmed” star went on to post several op-eds also imploring Sanders to drop out. She also found backup from fellow television vet, Debra Messing.

A source told The Post last June that Sanders was looking for Milano’s support during the early stages of his 2020 campaign, personally calling the entertainer in a bid to win her backing.
