Renowned photographer Peter Beard goes missing from Montauk home

A massive search is underway after renowned photographer Peter Beard went missing from his Long Island home, according to police.

Beard, 82, wandered from his home off of Old Montauk Highway east of Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday — resulting in a widespread search for him, according to the East Hampton Town Police.

Cops, Montauk Fire Department, Suffolk County Police aviation and New York State Park Police were on the scene Wednesday morning. Suffolk County Police aviation helicopters were also circling the area Tuesday night.

Beard, who has dementia, was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt and grey sweatpants, the East Hampton Star reported.

Beard’s high-profile neighbors include singer Paul Simon and fashion mogul Mickey Drexler.

Beard is a contemporary photographer most widely-known for his work on African wildlife.

Police in Montauk continue to search for famed photographer Peter Beard.
