Carson Daly was able to be in the delivery room with his wife, Siri Daly, on Thursday, but their baby’s birth was still impacted by new hospital restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday morning, Carson, 46, appeared on the “Today” show from his home, telling his colleagues that he was not permitted to stay with Siri, 39, before or after their fourth child’s birth at a Long Island hospital.

“She went alone on Wednesday night, I could only join her for the birth,” Carson said. “I only joined her for the birth and I had to leave again, as they’re quickly trying to flip these rooms around.”

In recent days, a number of hospitals in New York have instituted bans on partners in delivery rooms to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Carson said he was “profoundly moved” by Siri’s strength: “Being nine months pregnant at this time, you can imagine the extra anxiety that has brought.”

He also shared a photo of the couple wearing protective face masks in the hospital while holding their new daughter.

Goldie Patricia joins older siblings Jackson James, 11, Etta Jones, 7, and London Rose, 5.

The couple, who wed in 2015, chose the name Patricia after Carson’s mother, Pattie, who died in 2017. They picked Goldie after Carson, who said his background is 98% Irish, was perusing Irish names and stumbled upon it.

“This is our fourth kid she seems like the pot of gold at the end of our rainbow,” he said.
