The Apollo Theater will conduct auditions for its iconic Amateur Night remotely for the first time in its 86-year history.

The Harlem theater closed its doors because of the coronavirus outbreak, but has asked hopefuls to send audition tapes for spots in the show’s 2020-21 season. Tapes can be up to five minutes long, and the successful few will compete for the grand prize of $20,000.

The Apollo started Amateur Night in 1934, making it one of the longest-running events in New York City.

Lauryn Hill and the Jackson 5 are among the thousands of acts that have competed in it.
