Jennifer Lopez‘s ex-boyfriend David Cruz has died. He was 51.
Cruz died on Saturday at Mount Sinai Hospital of heart disease, the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to USA GAG on Monday.
When asked if his death had anything to do with coronavirus, the spokesperson said, “No.”
The “Dinero” singer, who hails from The Bronx, and Cruz began dating when they were just teenagers. They were in a relationship for a decade, during which Lopez rose to fame.
He attended a few red carpet events with Lopez, including a few movie premieres in 1995.
The pair ultimately parted ways in the mid-’90s.
He moved on with longtime partner Isa. They were together for 18 years.
“He never held on to anything and was always very open,” Isa told TMZ in a statement. “He was a devoted father, he helped raise his stepson who is now in the Marines. He loved the Yankees and Knicks. He loved going to the theater with me,” she continued. “My favorite moment was family date night, because it wasn’t just special for me but for the kids as well. He always made sure to end things with an ‘I love you.’”
Meanwhile, Lopez is currently engaged to Alex Rodriguez.
