Billy Joel and wife Alexis used some of their time in quarantine to sing Governor Andrew Cuomo‘s praises in a special note posted to the singer’s website on Sunday.
“We are so proud of Governor Cuomo, he is family to us. He is the Godfather of our daughters, Della and Remy, and we chose him knowing what a strong and steady presence he would be in their lives,” they wrote. “He was the first person at the hospital when Della was born and has never missed a birthday, Christmas or any special moment. No matter how busy he is, he’s always there.”
Billy, 70, and Alexis, 37, said Gov. Cuomo has “demonstrated authority and compassion.” “He is such a dedicated man,” they wrote.
Gov. Cuomo’s leadership while handling New York’s coronavirus crisis has won him praise nationwide, and celebs like La La Anthony, Robert De Niro, Danny Devito and Ben Stiller have stepped up to take part in Gov. Cuomo’s video messages urging people to stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19. His daily press conferences updating New Yorkers on the crisis even had #PresidentCuomo trending on Twitter.
The Joels wrote: “We are not at all surprised by his leadership during such a chaotic time and we are so proud of him. We’re lucky to call him ‘The Godfather,’ his favorite title, and our friend.”
Della was born in 2015, and Remy was born in 2017. The couple married in 2015.
