Ron DeSantis sends two planes full of migrant to Martha's Vineyard

On Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis kept his promise to send illegal immigrants to progressive states by sending two full planes of migrants to Martha's Vineyard.

Fox News Digital said that the migrants got off the planes in Florida and were seen waiting on the tarmac at Martha's Vineyard Airport on the small Massachusetts island.

In a statement to the news outlet, a spokesman for the Republican governor confirmed that the flights were "part of the state's relocation program to move illegal immigrants to safe places."

“States like Massachusetts, New York and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden administration’s open border policies,” said Taryn Fenske, the governor’s communication director.

In April, the Florida state legislature gave the Florida Department of Transportation $12 million from the state budget to help with the immigrant relocation program.

Fox said that the office of Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker said that the people who came to Martha's Vineyard were given temporary shelter.

In a statement to the outlet, Baker's press secretary Terry MacCormack said, "The Baker-Polito Administration is in touch with local officials about the arrival of migrants on Martha's Vineyard." "Right now, local officials are taking care of short-term shelter needs, and the Administration will continue to back those efforts."

Progressive celebrities and politicians like former President Barack Obama, who owns a multimillion-dollar home on the island, love to go on vacation to the Vineyard.

DeSantis had suggested that people who were moved out of his state through the immigrant relocation program could go to Martha's Vineyard or Delaware.

“It is not the responsibility of Floridians to subsidize aliens to reside in our state unlawfully; we did not consent to Biden’s open-borders agenda,” the governor’s office said at the time of the program’s launch.

DeSantis is not the only Republican governor who sends immigrants to more liberal parts of the country.

Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, has been sending thousands of illegal immigrants to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago. Arizona has also sent many people to Washington by bus.
