Cassidy Hutchinson worked for Trump for 9 weeks after she left the White House

A report says that former President Donald Trump hired Cassidy Hutchinson to work for him for nine weeks after he left the White House. Hutchinson was one of the most important witnesses at the committee hearings on January 6.

Business Insider cited documents from the General Services Administration to say that Hutchinson was a coordinator for Trump's taxpayer-funded office after he left office. Her bombshell testimony in June brought her to national attention.

From January 20, 2021, until April 1, 2021, she worked for Trump. The news source said that her annual salary was $90,000.

Mark Meadows, who was Trump's chief of staff before the Republican left office, worked closely with Hutchinson.

In her testimony, she made a lot of wild claims. For example, she said that Trump tried to grab the wheel of the presidential SUV he was in on Jan. 6 so he could join supporters going to the Capitol. She also said that the ex-president asked the Secret Service to let armed supporters into his "Stop the Steal" rally.

She also said she was "disgusted" that Trump sent a tweet during the riot attacking former Vice President Mike Pence for not rejecting state electors who helped Joe Biden win the 2020 election.

"It was unpatriotic and un-American, and we watched the Capitol building get defaced over a lie," she said. "I still have trouble getting over the feelings of that," she added later.

In a post on his website Truth Social after she testified, Trump said that Hutchinson was just a mad worker he didn't really know.

"I don't know much about this Cassidy Hutchinson person, except that I've heard bad things about her (that she's a total phony and a "leaker"), and when she asked to go to Florida with other members of the team after I had served my full term, I turned her down," Trump wrote.

“Why did she want to go with us if she felt we were so terrible? I understand that she was very upset and angry that I didn’t want her to go, or be a member of the team,” the former president alleged. “She is bad news!”

Business Insider sued the US General Services Administration in October 2021 to get the names of people who worked for Trump after he left the White House. This is how they got the records about Hutchinson.

Insiders said it wasn't clear what work Hutchinson did in her post-presidential role for Trump, but she worked from Arlington, Virginia instead of Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.

A source said that neither Hutchinson nor her lawyers responded to messages asking for comment.
