The Weeknd may have looked bloodied and bruised at the AMA’s on Sunday night — but don’t worry, the bandages were just part of his latest stunt.
The R&B sensation — who accepted an award for best soul/R&B album — sported a red suit and a fully bandaged face during the award ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The artist didn’t mention his odd facial wear during his acceptance speech, but was still wearing the bandages during his live renditions of “In Your Eyes” (with Kenny G) and “Save Your Tears.”
Although the singer started wearing the beaten up look in his video “Blinding Lights,” fans reacted on Twitter with shock and amusement.
“damn, when the weeknd said ‘i can’t feel my face when i’m with you’ he wasn’t joking,” one user wrote in reference to the singer’s hit song “Can’t Feel My Face.”
The Weeknd caused a similar stir during the VMA’s when he showed up looking as if he had just gotten into a bar fight backstage.
