Alex Trebek honored by ‘Wheel of Fortune’ stars Pat Sajak, Vanna White

The "Wheel of Fortune" stars paid tribute to Trebek on social media.

Pat Sajak and Vanna White paid tribute to the late Alex Trebek on Sunday, the same day the longtime “Jeopardy!” host succumbed to his battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Taking to Twitter, “Wheel of Fortune” host Sajak, 74, said he was “honored to be a friend and a part of his professional family for all these years.”

“Alex Trebek’s courage, grace and strength inspired millions and awed those of us who knew him,” Sajak penned. “A tremendous loss for his family, friends, co-workers and countless viewers. I was honored to be a friend and a part of his professional family for all these years. A very sad day.”

Both Sajak and Trebek have been part of their respective game shows since the 1980s. Trebek, whose final “Jeopardy!” episode will air Christmas Day, had hosted the series for 36 years.

In addition to Sajak, co-host White, 63, also honored Trebek on social media, stating she “will cherish the many memories” they shared.

“I will cherish the many memories I have shared with Alex Trebek that date back well before either of our careers took off,” White began on Instagram.

“I will always be in awe of the way he faced the battle he fought so valiantly, and I’m devastated to lose my longtime friend. My heart is with his family, friends, co-workers and fans. There will never be another Alex Trebek and he will truly be missed,” she continued.

Trebek died Sunday at the age of 80 and was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing.
