How Ramona Singer achieved her ageless hair look for the ‘RHONY’ reunion

Ramona Singer may be on her 12th year of “RHONY,” but looked as youthful as ever for the show’s Season 12 reunion.

Singer, 63, teamed up with her hairstylist Julius Michael to create what he calls a “fresh and new” style for the first in-person “Housewives” reunion since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

“I wanted Ramona to look young. Leah joined the cast and she’s younger, and Ramona is going to be 64 in October,” Michael recently told Page Six Style.

The pair also settled on sleek locks out of necessity. “Normally we stay on set for the full 12 hours or however long it takes,” the stylist explained. “We could go on set and touch them up. This time they weren’t allowing anyone. Then they decided to let each [star] pick one person to stay on set. So they had either a hair or makeup [artist].”

Singer chose to have her makeup artist remain on set, thinking that her hair would be lower maintenance. But of course, the process to get her look wasn’t as smooth as she had hoped.

“The first time I saw Ramona was the week prior [to filming],” Michael said. “Ramona was quarantined in Florida for most of the time, so I sent her her hair color formula. She had someone out there coloring and doing hair. So when she got back to my chair, I kind of wanted to change up the hair a little bit. So I went extra blond. I made her very light. And when she was sitting in my chair, I said, ‘You know what? I’m not going to be on set with you. I won’t be there to touch up. I think I want to give you long, sleek hair.’”

But when it came to adding an “extra eight inches” to Singer’s locks, Michael had to get resourceful.

“The extensions I used on her, I had made for Jenny McCarthy,” he revealed. “Because I made her a much lighter blonde, I gave Ramona a set of hair extensions to bring with her to the Hamptons and then bring on set, and she forgot them. So the night before, she called me and I had to grab the hair extensions I made for Jenny. So I only had a few tracks — I didn’t have a lot. I was nervous, worrying that her short hair would pop out.”

Michael created Singer’s look on the day of the shoot by using Oribe Mystify Restyling Spray ($44) on her damp roots and adding Oribe Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray ($36) to keep her hair looking smooth and shiny once it was dry.

Part one of “The Real Housewives of New York” reunion airs Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
