Nintendo is boosting production of its ultra-popular Switch console as it continues to struggle to keep up with demand.

The Japanese video game giant has asked its suppliers to up their output by 20 percent, according to Bloomberg, with the goal being to move 30 million units in the current fiscal year.

Nintendo’s Switch sales have been powered by stuck-at-home gamers turning to the Switch for their entertainment needs. “Animal Crossing: New Horizons,” which was launched as lockdowns first began in the US in March, is Nintendo’s fastest-selling game ever, and has already moved more than 22 million copies.

The Switch’s runaway success saw Nintendo report more than 400 percent year-over-year profitability growth last quarter, as well as a more than 120 percent jump in Switch sales.

Though Nintendo has overcome its supply chain issues from earlier in the year when its Chinese factories were forced to close, it has yet to be able to catch up to consumers’ pent-up demand.

The planned production boost comes ahead of the holiday shopping season, traditionally the best time of year for video game console sales.

Nintendo is also plotting a sequel system with upgraded processing power and 4K graphics for next year, according to Bloomberg, as well as a lineup of new games to accompany the new hardware launch. But the new Switch won’t likely be ready until after rivals Sony and Microsoft are expected to release their hotly anticipated PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles this winter.
