The New York Comedy Festival, which was set to take place Nov. 9-15, has been postponed for a year.

“While we were looking forward with great enthusiasm to bringing the very best comedy talent and fans from around the country and the world to New York City this fall, the circumstances presented by the pandemic will prevent us from doing so,” Caroline Hirsch, founder and owner of the New York Comedy Festival and Carolines on Broadway said in a press release on Tuesday.

Calling it an “extremely difficult decision to make,” Hirsch said it just wouldn’t possible to bring the talent and fans together in New York City safely during this time.

The festival announced it will now take place Nov. 8-14, 2021.

“It’s during times like these when we can all use a good laugh,” Hirsch continued. “But, as they say in comedy, it’s all in the timing. So, as we press pause for now, we look toward the future and will continue to work diligently to help bring comedy back to its place as an essential part of New York City’s cultural landscape in the coming year, and we are already in the process of planning for 2021.

“We are grateful for your continued support and look forward to seeing you very soon. In the meanwhile, please be safe.”

The annual festival began in 2004, and in 2007 launched Stand Up for Heroes with the Bob Woodruff Foundation to honor veterans and their families.
