When Christian Schauf, a businessman living in Park City, Utah, was ready to settle down, he decided to join a dating app.

While on a business trip to Marina Del Rey, Calif., earlier this year, he came across the profile of a “beautiful” blonde, who happened to be former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Meghan King Edmonds.

“To be totally transparent, I’ve never seen any ‘Real Housewives’ shows,” Shauf, 40, exclusively told Page Six this week, adding that he didn’t realize Edmonds, 35, was a celebrity until he checked out her Instagram.

“I was like, ‘Holy s—t. Why does she have a million followers?’” the Uncharted Supply Company CEO said.

The pair have a mutual friend, trainer Nancy Anderson, and so Schauf pinged his pal to get the lowdown on the Bravo star.

“She was like, ‘Oh she’s great. I trained her. You guys would be great together,’” Schauf said Anderson told him.

Despite the glowing recommendation, some other female friends, who had watched “RHOC” and read tabloids, bluntly asked the bachelor, “What the f—k are you doing?”

“I just made a conscious decision that I’m not going to dig in too far,” Schauf said. “I just want to meet the person for who they are and take them at face value. I think with Meghan … that’s the biggest gap from, like, what people say about her in the headlines versus who she really is as a person, and I mean that in a good way.”

Until now, Schauf had been far removed from the public scrutiny that has followed Edmonds since her stint on reality TV and highly-publicized and contentious divorce.

For years, the Wisconsin native led a mostly quiet life in Utah while running his business, but the entrepreneur is not a total stranger to the spotlight.

In the early 2000s, Schauf was in a band called Catchpenny for about eight years. The rock-pop group once sang the national anthem at a NASCAR race in Phoenix, performed on ESPN, and played more than 150 shows for the troops overseas in Iraq via Armed Forces Entertainment.

He ultimately stopped pursuing a music career because he felt “unfulfilled.”

After taking on a few marketing gigs in California and launching Crispin Cider — which eventually was sold to MillerCoors — Schauf started Uncharted Supply Company in 2016.

The survival gear company was born while Schauf sat in a traffic for eight hours.

“I think Uncharted is a combination of my life so far and I really believe that we could make the world a safer place,” he said. “If we can just equip 10 million people to not just take care of themselves, but their families and close neighbors, the world is a better place.”

Uncharted Supply Co. offers survival kits, battery jump starters, car chargers for laptops, first aid kids and more.

In 2018, Schauf took his company to Season 9 of “Shark Tank” to help expand his business. He impressed Canadian investor Robert Herjavec, who offered him $200,000 for 10% ownership.

In the episode, Schauf accepted the deal, but said Uncharted later found a “better deal” with Peter Chernin after the show.

With his career in a solid space, Schauf said he recently decided to make his love life more of a priority.

“I do want to be married. I want to have kids and [am] trying to be proactive about it,” he said.

After he met Edmonds via the dating app, the pair spoke for three hours on FaceTime during their first chat. Schauf said the fact that she has three young children and is divorcing ex-MLB star Jim Edmonds was not a deterrent.

“Most people that I’ve dated have some kind of legacy to them,” he said, adding that his most recent ex also has three kids. “I had gotten to a point where I’ve gotten comfortable with the situation.”

“I try to play the right position there, and be respectful of both mom and dad,” he added. “So far, so good. Nothing’s perfect, right?”

In response to some criticism he has seen online that he is with Edmonds for “fame,” Schauf told us that could not be further from the truth.

“I found that pretty funny because if fame was what I was after, I’ve had dozens of opportunities in my life to do something for fame,” he said. “I don’t think moving from Los Angeles to Park City is something that somebody who’s fame-hungry [would do].”

Schauf added, “I’m happier with three buddies back in the mountains somewhere than I am in one of the nicest places in LA — that’s just who I am. So, it almost made me laugh when somebody said I was doing it for the fame.”

Schauf said his attraction for Edmonds has grown even more because of how he’s seen her handle some of the backlash she gets from being in the public eye.

He said, “This is a 35-year-old woman with three kids under the age of 3 with an ex who is not that easy to deal with — and that is putting it in the nicest way possible — and then having every move you make played out at the scale she does, for her to continue to be positive and push ahead and have goals, and not let it overwhelm her … it’s really impressive to me. Like, it’s really admirable. I really like that about her.”

According to Schauf, the couple have talked about the possibility of marriage down the line, but are taking it “day by day” for now.

“We don’t need to think about something two years down the road,” he said. “I try to not worry too much about things that are 10 steps down the road, when I have a bunch of other stuff in front of it.”

Schauf concluded, “I’m a dude that’s been pretty career-focused, and has been trying to meet the right person. Meghan and I have a connection. Beyond the fact that she has a big audience from being on a TV show, I’m just a dude trying to live his life in a positive way and have a family.”
