Dolores Catania will be looking better than ever when the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” returns.
The reality star, 49, lost 25 pounds and then underwent a tummy tuck, liposuction and fat transfer, People reported on Thursday.
“I had lost 25 pounds from dieting and still wasn’t completely comfortable with my body,” Catania told the outlet of why she underwent the procedures. “I found myself still wanting to cover up. Once I hit my goal weight and I knew that my stomach wouldn’t be the way I wanted it to even if I worked out, I knew it was time.”
The gym owner — she and her ex-husband Frank Catania opened the Gold’s Gym franchise in Teterboro together and she opened Powerhouse Fitness Center of Whippany on her own — confessed that she had been thinking about the procedure for a while.
“I’m turning 50 this year,” she explained. “And I said, ‘This is the year where I’m going to do anything I’ve thought about or held off on. I’m ready to do it.’ And I’ve thought about a tummy tuck for a while.”
She underwent liposuction and a fat transfer to enhance her behind.
“People are already noticing a difference,” Catania said. “I’m still swollen. But the results are amazing already. I’m glad I did it. I have no regrets.”
While most of the people in her life were supportive of her decision to go under the knife, her boyfriend, Dr. David Principe, didn’t agree with her decision.
“I didn’t tell him until the night before because I didn’t want him talking me out of it,” she said. “He’s angry but he will get over it. I know at the end of the day he wants me to be happy and this is what made me happy.”
She concluded, “You can’t wake up every day feeling unhappy about yourself. I’m a big advocate of doing what you need to do in order to love yourself.”
A rep for Catania didn’t get back to us.
