Nick Cannon will remain the host of Fox’s “The Masked Singer” after he came under fire for making anti-Semitic comments on his YouTube series, “Cannon’s Class.”
“Nick has sincerely apologized, and quickly taken steps to educate himself and make amends,” Fox said in a statement Wednesday.
“On that basis and given a belief that this moment calls for dialogue, we will move forward with Nick and help him advance this important conversation, broadly.”
Earlier, ViacomCBS, the parent company of MTV and TeenNick, fired Cannon over his remarks, which included saying black people are “true Hebrews.”
“You can’t be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people,” Cannon said. “That’s our birthright. So if that’s truly our birthright, there’s no hate involved.”
Cannon hosted MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out” and served as chairman of TeenNick.
Following Cannon’s firing, Diddy offered him a job at Revolt TV.
“@NickCannon come home to @REVOLTTV truly BLACK OWNED!!!” the hip-hop mogul tweeted on Wednesday alongside a fist and heart emoji. “We got your back and love you and what you have done for the culture. We are for our people first!!! For us! By US! Let’s go!!!”
The “Drumline” star is also set to premiere Debmar-Mercury’s syndicated talk show “Nick Cannon” in the fall. When asked whether or not the show would go on, Debmar-Mercury had no comment.
