As the Bryant family marked their first Father’s Day since Kobe Bryant’s death, Vanessa revealed on Instagram that she and her daughters had welcomed a four-legged friend into their household: Bobby the dog.

“Love seeing my girls smile. Meet Bobby. Aka Bobby ganoush, bobbyrooni, bobbooshka,” Vanessa captioned a snap of eldest daughter Natalia, 17, holding Bobby. “J/k he’s named after iceman from x-men (blue eyes)❄️.”

Vanessa, 38, had previously polled her followers about what their new puppy should be named, with Bodhi as an additional option. She also posted a clip of 3-year-old daughter Bianka talking about the newest member of the family.

Earlier in the day, Vanessa penned a touching tribute to her late husband Kobe, who was tragically killed in a January helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of their 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others. The Lakers legend was 41 years old.

“Happy Father’s Day to the BEST daddy in the world. We miss you so much. We love you forever and always. Love, Nani, Gigi, BB, Koko and VB ❤️😘@KobeBryant #BestoftheBest #GirlDad,” Vanessa wrote.

In the wake of Kobe and Gianna’s deaths, Vanessa has urged lawmakers to pass a helicopter safety bill named for him.

The mother of four — who also celebrated 1-year-old daughter Capri’s birthday on Saturday — is said to be seeking hundreds of millions of dollars as part of a wrongful death lawsuit filed against the helicopter company, as well as the estate of the pilot who was involved in the fatal crash.
