Who is Alex Trebek?

The “Jeopardy!” host, 79, who revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March 2019, is looking forward to taping new episodes once filming resumes after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Alex is looking forward to resuming production as soon as we are able to do so. He’s told us he wants to be one of the first shows back in production,” a rep for the longtime game show told TV Line.

On Friday the last pre-taped episode of the show will air, leading many fans to worry they’ll be viewing Trebek’s final hosting gig. Like many shows, the production of “Jeopardy!” was halted in March due to the spread of the coronavirus. After the last new episode airs, reruns will be shown until taping resumes.

Trebek’s determination to get back to work is not a surprise: In January, he told reporters that he does not plan on stepping down from his post “in the near future.”

The host’s memoir, “The Answer Is … Reflections of My Life,” is due to be published July 21, the day before Trebek’s 80th birthday.
