They do know something about “Toxicity,” after all.

Half of beloved alt-rockers System of a Down — singer Serj Tankian, 52, and drummer John Dolmayan, 46 — are embroiled in an internecine squabble over President Donald Trump’s handling of the fallout from George Floyd’s death in police custody — which they’re hashing out over Instagram.

“Run Donny run into your bunker,” Tankian’s lengthy post from earlier this week begins, underneath a picture of protesters near the White House, before continuing, “You may be the first US President to do so out of fear of your own citizens.”

Meanwhile, Dolmayan posted an image of Trump Wednesday that featured a tweet of his oft-repeated claim of having “done more for the Black Community than any President since Abraham Lincoln,” captioning it, “Let’s not let the narrative that’s being spun make us forget the truth of this statement.” (He voiced support both “justice for George Floyd” and the tens of thousands of good-intentioned policemen and women nationwide” in another post.)

Though the band’s music skewed leftist in their heyday, It’s not the first time Tankian and Dolmayan have been at odds politically in public: They released conflicting statements about Bernie Sanders’ candidacy in February.

But the group — who hasn’t released new music since 2005 — has rescheduled a slew of tour dates (with fellow Aughts-era baggy-pants rockers Korn) for 2021, in what could wind up as the nü-metal equivalent of arguing with your relatives over November’s election.
