Sunday was supposed to be the 74th Tonys.

The first broadcast was on WOR in 1947. First on TV was in 1967, on ABC, from the Shubert Theatre.

For the first time ever, they are postponed indefinitely. So no Radio City, no long speeches, no long gowns, no red carpet, no p.r. man Rick Miramontez’s traditional late-night Carlyle party.

“The fabulous invalid,” as it was once called, shut down mid-March. The fabulous Broadway will be back.

Some shows barely had an opening, but here are some coulda shoulda woulda wins I’m hearing:

Best Musical: “Girl From the North Country” Should’ve won: “Diana: A True Musical Story”

Best Play: “Slave Play.” Should’ve won: “The Lehman Trilogy”

Best Revival Musical: “West Side Story”

Best Revival of a Play: “Betrayal” Should’ve won: “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf”

Best Actress Musical: Adrienne Warren in “Tina”

Best Actor Musical: Isaac Powell in “West Side Story” Should’ve won: Rob McClure in “Mrs. Doubtfire”

Best Featured Actor in a Musical: Danny Burstein in “Moulin Rouge!”

Best Featured Actress in a Musical: Mare Winningham in “Girl From the North Country” Could’ve won: Patti LuPone in “Company”

Best Actress in a Play: Mary-Louise Parker in “The Sound Inside” Should’ve won: Laurie Metcalf in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf”

Best Actor in a Play: Tom Hiddleston in “Betrayal”

Competition twixt “West Side Story” and “Company,” both Sondheim shows, coulda/shoulda/woulda been fierce.

Our city has faced so much …

New York City’s had police brutality incidents that created unrest before. Abner Louima? Amadou Diallo? One ’90s situation was so toxic that to get a fair trial, the case was moved to upstate New York. There the three police officers were acquitted. Why?

Al Sharpton came up to Albany with busloads of demonstrators, and the locals sharply remembered sharp Sharpton’s manipulations in an earlier Tawana Brawley case. Because of him, those upstaters moved that jury to a quick acquittal.

In my home

Not to undercut the anguish of fellow New Yorkers, just to give a personal peek: Many companies have announced leniencies with bill-paying. The accountant, handling my accounts 25 years, couldn’t come. So Spectrum, busy on ads for how we should trust them, canceled my service, although I’d already sent my own check. Suddenly, my Internet stopped. My TV stopped. For unknown reasons, Verizon sympathized. Phones went off. And a printer and fax also stopped.

Due to heavy rain, an army of ants was coming in. And a huge pane of glass window cracked. I look forward to Spectrum’s next commercial. The last one said: “Spectrum: Keeping us all connected.”

To Spectrum’s CEO: Possibly your income exceeds your IQ. However, no matter where you might be, that could not be evident only in New York, kids, only in New York.
