Madison Beer says she was tear-gassed while protesting police brutality in Santa Monica, Calif., following George Floyd’s death.

“LEAVE SANTA MONICA NOW IF YOU CAN I WAS JUST TEAR GASSED,” the “Selfish” singer, 21, tweeted Sunday. “THEY ARE ARRESTING EVERYONE AND TEAR GASSING ALL CROWDS.”

Beer also posted a teary-eyed selfie, reiterating her message that she was tear-gassed on her Instagram Stories.

Beer documented the protest on social media, posting photos of Black Lives Matter signs and video of cops driving by while blaring their sirens.

Later on, a fan tweeted at Beer to see if she was OK and ask if she needed bail money.

“you guys are awesome. i am safe and well, thank you for the concern,” Beer responded. “i hope everyone who was out there is safe as well. remember the curfews that are in order 🖤”

Beer was marching in protest after former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin was caught on camera pressing his knee into George Floyd’s neck until he died. Chauvin has since been fired, along with three other cops who were with him, and Chauvin was charged with murder and manslaughter.

Protesters are demanding that the three other cops also be charged with murder.

Beer shared her feelings on Floyd’s death on Instagram last week, writing, “i am heartbroken, enraged, and disturbed over the murder of George Floyd. i am mourning all of the unjust murders of black people around the world in the hands of institutional racism and hate crimes.”

She added, “because i am a white person, i have the privilege of not having to fear for my life due to the color of my skin, but i will always stand with you and fight with you. your voice matters. you will not be silenced. #blacklivesmatter today, tomorrow & forever.”
