Seven weeks after getting into a serious skateboarding accident, Michelle Money’s teenage daughter, Brielle, says she is “grateful” for the traumatic experience.
“It’s been so positive. I think I’ve learned more from this experience more than anything else that I’ve been through,” Brielle said in an Instagram Q&A with her mom.
Brielle, 15, left the hospital at the end of April after being placed on life support and spending weeks in the ICU when her longboard hit a manhole and she fell, resulting in a cracked skull and bruised brain.
Now, the teen is looking to the future.
“I’ve learned to focus on school and to learn the path to get to for where I want to end up in the future,” she explained to viewers. “I want to go to Stanford. I’m gonna think about what steps I need to take to end up there, and I wasn’t thinking about that before this happened, so I’m really grateful that this happened.”
Both Money and her ex Ryan Money kept their followers up to date as Brielle recovered in the hospital, often getting emotional on camera. Brielle said she understood it was “so hard” for her parents to see her in the hospital but added, “for me, it’s been nothing but positive.”
Brielle has graduated from physical therapy and now is in speech and occupational therapies.
“There are little hiccups that are hard to deal with, she explained, “but for the most part it’s been great. I’ve learned so much.”
