Nick Cordero‘s wife Amanda Kloots revealed her Mother’s Day got off to a “fantastic” start, following a call with the hospitalized Broadway star.

“I just did a little FaceTime with Nick,” Kloots told fans Sunday on her Instagram Story. “I asked him to look up and he did, and I asked him to look down and he did. And so that was a fantastic Mother’s Day gift to start my day off with.”

Kloots has kept fans updated on Cordero’s difficult recovery from the coronavirus and said last week that while the 41-year-old actor had opened his eyes, “they’re not connected to anything.” She added that the doctors were “hoping and praying that things start,” and how they needed Cordero to “follow commands.”

Kloots — who shares 11-month-old son Elvis with Cordero — expressed her excitement over the “positive little things.”

“I can’t even talk because I am excited about it, but don’t want to be too excited, but I’m excited,” she said. “But anyways, what this could mean is that it’s a start to possibly following commands, which would be huge.”

Cordero has been hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles since April. Last month, the “Rock of Ages” star had his right leg amputated as a result of coronavirus complications. He also had a tracheostomy procedure to help remove him from a ventilator.

Though the Broadway star recently endured a “rocky night,” Kloots is cautiously hopeful.

“Again, super early and I may be jumping this gun. I got really excited about it because it seemed to show that he could hear me and follow a command,” she said.
