Jason Mitchell claims his recent arrest for drug and gun possession is a “misunderstanding.”

The “Straight Outta Compton” star’s agent, Dr. Glenn Toby, explained to The Blast that when Mitchell, 33, was arrested, he was driving a friend’s rental car and the ecstasy, marijuana and guns found in the vehicle belonged to someone else.

Toby didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

Mitchell was arrested and booked in Harrison County Jail last Wednesday and released that evening on $150,000 bond.

This was the “Mudbound” actor’s latest public snafu in a series of troubling incidents. In 2019, following claims of misconduct, Mitchell was fired from the Netflix movie “Desperado” and dropped by Showtime’s “The Chi.” His “The Chi” co-star, Tiffany Boone, departed the series in 2018 after alleging Mitchell sexually harassed her, though he denied the claims.

Mitchell’s then-agent, manager and lawyer cut ties with him after he was dropped from “The Chi.”
