You know it’s bad when the Beanie Babies start praying.
Ty Warner — the Four Seasons hotel owner who made his fortune making the plush phenomenon — has made a new Beanie Baby to raise money for coronavirus relief, we’re told.
The teddy bear tycoon has been putting up medical workers at his Midtown hotel, and on Wednesday he handed out Hope — a rainbow-colored bear that is kneeling and has its hands together as if in prayer — to the medics.
“The world needs hope, and this little bear just might bring us the smile we need right now,” Warner said.
It will also be available worldwide in essential retail outlets, such as drug and grocery stores, so that people can purchase the bear while shopping for groceries and other essential items, according to the company. It will also be sold on the Ty Web site.
All the proceeds will go to the United Way organization to help with the recovery effort from the pandemic.
