Heather Locklear just celebrated a significant milestone — one year of sobriety.

The 58-year-old “Melrose Place” actress posted a lengthy excerpt to her Instagram on Tuesday. In the post — attributed to poet Maya Angelou — Locklear quoted, “I’ve learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.”

Accompanying the post in the comments section, Locklear added — “Hugs will come later! 1 year sober today!!!”

Meanwhile, a close friend of the actress told People, “She is doing great and looks great.”

“She is gardening and taking walks and cooking like a fiend,” the friend added, noting that Locklear cooks for her elderly parents who live nearby. “It’s so thoughtful. She’s strong and clear-headed and she’s thoughtful about others.”

Locklear’s legal and personal woes over the last couple of years have included arrests for misdemeanor counts of battery, a 5150 psychiatric hold and a sentence of 30 days in a mental health facility.

She shares a 23-year-old daughter named Ava with ex-husband Richie Sambora and Locklear’s friend says the two have a close relationship.

On Saturday, Locklear posted a sweet picture of some cupcakes from Ava that read, “I Love U Mama.”

“From my sweet Ava,” Locklear captioned the post.

Last month, Locklear made a rare social media appearance to express her thanks to all of the essential workers on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.
