The Chainsmokers have donated thousands of KN95 masks to hospitals amid the coronavirus pandemic, Page Six has learned.
The duo, which consists of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, donated 10,000 masks to Weill Cornell Medicine and another 10,000 to University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
“The work our healthcare professionals are doing on a daily basis is truly inspiring. Making sure they are able to stay safe and protected should be a priority to us all. We hope this donation can help provide safe care as well as inspire others to look into how they can help,” they told us.
The masks were transported with the help of the New York-based Diocesan Emergency Task Force and the NYPD and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Weill Cornell Medicine said, “We are so thankful for the generous mask donation from The Chainsmokers that are essential to protect our Weill Cornell Medicine healthcare heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic. This critical protective gear will be provided to our frontline staff who have been working around the clock to care for and save the lives of COVID-19 patients here in New York City. Weill Cornell Medicine healthcare workers have been battling the virus on multiple fronts, including frontline patient care, investigating novel treatments and vaccines, accelerating research to develop new tests, and tracking the virus spread.”
And University Medical Center’s Scott Kerb added: “As the men and women of UMC work tirelessly to save lives, our team continues to find strength in the compassion and generosity of others. This significant donation of masks from The Chainsmokers supports our efforts to prepare for any potential future influx of patients. Thank you to Alex, Drew and everyone else who made this donation possible.”
