The daughter of famed photographer Peter Beard has penned a touching tribute to her late father after his remains were found in Long Island over the weekend — saying “the world has lost a little bit of its magic.”
Zara Beard, 32, on Monday posted two touching images of her dad holding her as baby on Instagram, hours after the family confirmed his death.
“Although I have received confirmation of his physical death, in my heart and mind he will live on and be loved forever,” she wrote in the caption.
The legendary 82-year-old African wildlife shutterbug — a onetime fixture at Studio 54 and pal of Andy Warhol — suffered from dementia and had been missing from his cliffside Montauk compound since March 31.
His remains were found in a wooded area of Camp Hero State Park on Sunday, not far from the home he shared with wife Nejma and their daughter.
“While it is impossible to describe what a loss of this magnitude feels like, today it is safe to say that with the loss of my dad, the world has also lost a little bit of its magic,” Zara wrote.
She thanked all of those who had reached out to her family, writing that “your kindness has been an enormous source of strength and it will never ever be forgotten.”
She closed the post with a quote from the poet Rumi: “Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation”
“Rest In Peace, my beloved father, Peter Hill Beard- January 22nd 1938- forever.”
