Louis Tomlinson was not happy when Liam Payne prematurely revealed One Direction‘s plans to come together for a reunion.

“I can’t say too much. It was actually, Louis told me off for revealing a bit of our plans the other day. So you’re going to have the group telling me off on the group chat,” Payne told Swedish DJ Alesso during an Instagram Live on Sunday.

The 26-year-old Payne spilled the beans during an interview last week.

“We’ve got a 10-year anniversary coming up so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice,” he told The Sun. “There’s a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around.”

Page Six then exclusively confirmed the rumors of a reunion after the ex-bandmates all started following each other on social media again.

“There’s still a long way to go and a lot of hurdles. Obviously, at the moment anything they do would have to be done virtually,” a  source close to one of the singer’s management teams told us. “But there’s a lot of goodwill between them now and they want to make something happen.”

One Direction would be coming together for their 10-year anniversary in late July.

The source added, “Each of the boys wants to somehow thank the fans for their ten years of loyalty. Despite each of their solo successes, each of them knows that the greatest thanks they can give to their fans is for them to do something together in tribute to where things began. Their relationships are very different now to how they used to be but individually they know they wouldn’t be where they are now without what the group achieved together.”

One Direction split shortly after Zayn Malik left the group in March 2015. Shortly, after, Payne, Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan also went their separate ways that August.

Styles did hint that whatever form the reunion takes would probably not be on a Zoom call.

“I don’t know if that’s the reunion we had in mind. I don’t know if that would be the way to do it,” Styles recently told SiriusXM.

Either way, the coronavirus pandemic has been somewhat of a driving force for One Direction to reunite.

“I think what’s happening in the world right now has put a lot of their differences into perspective,” another music source told Page Six last week.
